Using Leftovers to create a Jacket

 



This was the leftover fabric from the baggy pants.

Remember these pants ( 1 hour palazzo)




I loved the top with the cowl collar and it looked fab with this old black freeflowing jacket, but I couldnt get over how much of the rose pants fabric was left....not quite enough.



I cut the usual folded over fabric piece and cut to length and then the left over rectangle was good for sleeves, but the width for a nice jacket was not enough for my big hips! 


I had some leftover black quilted fabric- not much, but enough to cut a couple of TRIANGLES to sew in the side seams and cut my favorite pocket pieces out of.  Added a black strip down the front of each side.

Light Cotton Jacket, Matching Design No Pattern

  This was a lovely gift of two yards of fabric from my friend who went to Bali. I am proud of how I figured it out and also I had the perfect button hooks to match the fabric, wasting away in my button sewing box. It was a 2 yard piece of fabric with dark blue background and gold metallic design. When it was finished I took the scraps and made a mask and earrings.  Used every inch of this fabric. I needed something lightweight and cotton, so I picked up the piece and examined the print.  It had some lovely design that was in columns I could use for borders, but I could see it would take work to cut it out. The selvage was a nice print of gold, that I didn't want to lose.  I laid out the whole piece of fabric and figured how I could cut the front pieces and the back piece on a fold and utilize the border strips. Sewing the Stash Outfit

  OUTFIT IDEAS Jacket, scarves (one same as jacket one contrast), earrings, facemask, 3D pockets on bottom of palazzo pants-solid t-shirt same contrast as color of solid color pants All the fabric I use does not come from G Street Fabrics, where I work.....  I also have a Spoonflower shop and this is one of my fabric designs.... This is printed chiffon- I will make one of my freeflowing jackets out of this... Along with the regular freeflowing jacket I made a scarf, scrunchie and earrings plus mask Matching earrings and mask from the same fabric. My favorite mask pattern has a filter pocket.  I will write the next blog when I make the matching masks for the next outfits. Earrings are our covered buttons from G and I buy the earring backs in bulk, and the elastic adjustable ties. Scrunchies from the same fabric, I use a black hair rubber band and just fold over the fabric and topstitch fast and easy. These two yellow fabrics came from GStreet Treasure Hunt Room.... I am go...

Everyone needs a Hibiscus Free Flowing Jacket

  This is a true hibiscus or Rose of Sharon flower Free Flowing jacket.  As you can see as usual I paired a scarf of the leftover fabric with a scarf of the leftover slinky knit in red. To Look together your outfits can have a catchy pair of earrings, a scrunchy or braided fabric bracelet. I love this jacket with the feathers on it.  I satin stitched the edges of the chiffon jacket to give the simple appearance of serging. I believe the red slinky knit pullover with the red slinky knit pants are catchy with any jacket that has a spot of red. I made this slinky knit top to wear with the feather outfit .The other day.   Now with the new free flowing jacket, I have added slinky knit palazzo pants.    Note the bottom of the palazzo pants has a cuff to add length to my tops of my shoes.  I love the slink of these pants and they have nice pockets and a drawstring added to the elastic waste.
